Napier
“Napier started as the E.A. Bliss Co. in 1878…The company became the Napier-Bliss Co. in 1920 when James Napier, an employee of E.A Bliss, became president after steering the firm through hard financial times. Napier purchased a controlling interest in the company in 1922, and the name changed again to The Napier Co.
Moving into the ’50s and 1960s, in addition to all the other fashion-forward jewelry they produced, Napier created “boutique” lines and other haute couture collections. These pieces combined superb design with high-quality materials and craftsmanship to create jewelry that often looks as good today as it did when it was new. Doris Day also appeared in advertising during the 1950s, promoting her line of Napier jewelry. Eugene Bertolli was one of the designers responsible for many highly regarded Napier pieces from this period.
The smart “Napier is…” advertising campaign in the 1970s widened brand recognition for the company. Quality remained high as Napier’s output adapted to the styles of the 1980s and ’90s.” -WorthPoint
