Vintage Navajo Arts & Crafts Guild Ramona Sterling Silver Turquoise Earrings
At first, I thought the hallmark "Ramona Sterling" belonged to the Hopi artist Ramona Loloma. However, I then noticed a faint pictorial mark of a Horned Moon, the registered trademark of the Navajo Arts and Crafts Guild, which has been in use since 1955. Therefore, it is possible that these earrings were made by Ramona Bird, who is known for her work in turquoise jewelry.
I am not a gemologist, but these earrings feature a beautiful, uniform sky-blue color, which might suggest that the stones are Sleeping Beauty turquoise from the mine near Globe, Arizona. This mine was one of the largest producers of high-quality turquoise in the world until it closed in 2012. Please conduct your own research to verify the hallmarks and the type of turquoise used in these earrings.
The earrings are square-shaped, measuring 0.75" x 0.75". The bezel-set stones are decorated with a rope design around the edges and additional embellishments at the bottom.
They are in very good pre-owned condition, with minor signs of wear.
