Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Belt Buckle

This Navajo sterling silver belt buckle features a beautifully executed design of a Native American on horseback and crescent moon framed by artistic native symbols, all overlain on a pebbled background in a Hopi-style overlay technique. The buckle was likely made in the 1980s. The hallmark “RS” on the reverse side may be that of well-known Navajo silversmith Roger Skeet, Jr., whose father was also a renowned Navajo silversmith. The reverse side is also stamped “Sterling.” This substantial buckle weighs about 3 oz. (approximately 85 grams), and fits belts up to 1.5” wide. Could be worn by a man or a woman. Dimensions: 2 7/8” long x 2 1/4” wide x 5/8” high. Condition: Excellent with minor tarnish commensurate with age
