One of a kind gorgeous Ken & Stephanie Shader Porcelain China doll. This was a gift for Chirstmas circa 1982-83. Each of the Shader's dolls were hand made by the husband & wife team our of the now defunct Delaware company they started in the late 70's. The Shader's China Doll Company was founded in Newark, DE in 1979 by Ken & Stephanie Shader. The couple started out making high-quality porcelain dolls for their daughter and for friends beginning in 1976 before going into business. The company was in business from 1979-1986 and generally made "boutique" porcelain dolls for collectors but also produced limited edition dolls for some of the larger toy manufacturers. Sadly, I located divorce records for the couple in my research for more info. on the doll for this listing and the Doll company went into a tragic bankruptcy after being widely successful. This doll is in it's original colonial/prairie attire & hair intact with tag. Neck is wobbly but that may be how it always was. These dolls went for upwards of 7,000.
