Vintage Panama Folk Art Kuna Mola reverse appliqué embroidery quilted art owl

Molas are a traditional handcraft of the Mola people in Panama, which is where I purchase this lovely vintage piece. Hand stitched with a reverse appliqué / embroidery technique these are made by highly skilled women and take lots of time and care to create the varied and unique designs. Each one is an original work. This piece is in great condition with lovely vibrant colors and a charming design. This piece was made by a particularly skilled sewing as you can see it features incredibly small and intricate chain stitching around the feathers and eyes - incredible.
