Excellent Condition -- Statement Piece Vintage PENNINO Clear Rhinestone Leaf Flower Necklace Measuring 12-15.5” Rhodium Plated Clear Rhinestones =========== Pennino Jewelry - Description The Pennino family was known for fine jewelry craftsmanship in Italy before migrating to the United States in the early 1900s. They owned a jewelry store in New York in the early 1900s where Pasquale Pennino and his son Otto ran the shop. Pasquale opened a small goldsmith shop in 1908. After Pasquale passed, his sons Otto, Frank, and Jack (Oreste, Francis, and Gennaro in Italian) continued to learn the jewelry business working in the trade. The brothers had been known as the “three Neapolitan Princes” in Italy as they were descendants of royalty. Always working closely together, they founded Pennino Brothers in 1926. Otto designed the Pennino Brothers jewelry, Frank crafted it, and Jack ran the businesses end of things, including managing sales. Their jewelry was sold through many elite retail establishments and jewelry stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue.  Always high in quality, jewelry made by the Penninos often emulated fine jewelry designs. Their pieces were made of base metal with gold or rhodium plating and embellished with the finest of colorful rhinestones and clear accents. The business closed in 1966 as Frank’s eyesight failed. Most of the Pennino molds were broken at that time in an effort to protect the designs and ensure their legacy of quality craftsmanship.
