Vintage Portuguese Majolica Pottery Artichoke Plates Set of 4 Made in Portugal

Preowned vintage; EUC A wonderful set of 4 Portuguese majolica artichoke plates made in Portugal in the late 1970’s to early 1980’s for William Sonoma, San Francisco These plates have a very beautiful creamy and semi translucent glaze which really highlights the beautiful crisp artichoke flower and leaf design. The plates features sauce or mayonnaise cups in a “kidney bean” shape at the bottom of the circular artichoke bowl decorated with an artichoke flower. The sides of the plates are festooned with artichoke leaves. The plate is approximately 8.5“ wide and 1” tall. The plates are in excellent vintage condition with only some minor manufacturing glaze skips and dimples which make them all the more wonderful! No chips or cracks. No crazing noted. This is a hand made pottery item and has small irregularities in the glaze such as small bubbles, glaze skips, where the glaze doesn’t completely cover the clay or little specs in the clay and/or glaze! This adds to the artisan charm of true hand made Majolica Marked “ Made in Portugal “ very faintly on the back of each plate
