Large Wood Wall Plate Hand Painted and Signed by the Artist: Rosemaling master Karl K. Reese (1888 - 1972), circa 1930s - 50s. Features exquisitely rendered flowers, vines and fruits on a solid wood surface. Far more sophicated detail and dimension than your typical rose painted plate. Color palette includes green, orange, red, lavender and white. Surface shows wood grain, and the vintage wear and patina that’s earned only from age and use. Measures 14 inches diameter. Fitted with a hanging in back, just above the signature. Painter and Rosemaling master Karl K. Reese (1888 - 1972) brought his native art of Norwegian Rose Painting when he immigrated, living and teaching for much of his life first in the Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota) and then California. He was a descendant of Old Torjeisen Sinnes, a student of Jorund whose work is exhibited widely in Norway, including in Norsk Folkmuseum in Oslo.
