This is a Russian Amber brooch that is 2 inches long if you measure the legs. The body alone is 1 1/4 inches long. I could not read the Russian gold hallmark so I brought it to my jeweler and he said it was 18 KT. The pin has a slight bend in it and under magnification the bottom of the amber shows a little scratching but other than that this bug is in very good condition.

bigkolibri These vintage Russian amber brooches are costume, made of brass. The mark you see is factory identification mark. Russian gold hallmarks are marked in millesimal, not in karats. 18k would be marked 750 and star with hammer and sickle in it. If your jeweler can’t tell 18k gold from brass, do yourself a favor and get new jeweler.
