Beautiful Rare Vintage UNSIGNED SCHREINER Rhinestone Brooch. In wonderful condition! Classic hook construction with two layered dome stones. Foil back crystals. SCHREINER jewelry was made from about 1951 to the 1970s. The company was started by Henry Schreiner, who had worked before WWI for other jewelry companies, and the pieces were hand made. Known for their high quality stones and unusual color combinations, trademarks of Schreiner jewelry are the reverse setting of rhinestones (point up instead of point down), the hook and eye back construction and the "donut" clips on the earring backs. Large, colorful and eye-catching, these are favorites of most rhinestone jewelry collectors. One of the most obvious construction techniques Schreiner fans learn to look for is the “hook and eye” found by examining the backs of these pieces. They are often made in more than one part and linked together by a metal wire (the hook) that fits through a loop-shaped finding (the eye) to hold the layered components together.
