Vintage SIgned Napier "Hollywood" Rhinestone Chandelier Pierced Earrings, 1990

Goldtone round and pear shaped paste pierced earrings. Marked "Napier." Condition: Very good; slight wear to push backs. Measure: 2.63 inches L x 1 inch W. From Napier's 1990 "Hollywood" collection. Identical earrings are shown on pg 669 of Melinda L. Lewis & Henry Swen's The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry. Vintage Napier jewelry was made in Meriden, Connecticut and is very high quality and desirable. In the 1950s, jewelry by Napier was worn by celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Mamie Eisenhower and Miss America. A necklace sold by Napier in the 1980s or 1990s could cost $100 or more. The plant in Meriden was closed in 2000 and the company sold in 2002, so while the company name still exists, the jewelry is now mass produced.
