1946 through 1976 Schrade produced these Delrin textured orange handle parachute shroud cutter knives. Model MC-1. These were not only Air Force military issue, but they were also used by NASA in the space program. Blade itself is 2-3/4" & total length is 3". Brass blade-locking lever & release button, steel liners. The blade is stamped SCHRADE over WALDEN over N.Y. U.S.A. Reverse side is stamped STAINLESS. The blades, button & lever function properly. Paratroopers would leave the airplane with the hooked blade open. The knife connected to the jumpsuit by a lanyard cord as a safety feature for cutting tangled parachute cords. 9" long with both ends fully extended. About 3-1/4" closed. Knife blade is no longer sharp. Hooked paracord blade has a fairly sharp inner edge. Military orange Delrin handle.
