Elegant Neoclassical style Sheridan silver-plate on copper waste bowl (slop basin) from the midcentury. The style is traditional, stately and with clean lines. Sheridan is famous for silversmithing many designs and existed from 1946. This vessel was traditionally used for tea and coffee dregs/used leaves during a full tea/ beverage service. It can also be used as a spooner, small planter, pencil / pen holder, desk accessory, a bud vase or just as a decor piece. Add a little mirrored shine to a shelf with plants and other object this pot will reflect and play with the light. A Classic gadroon stripe adorns the middle of body. Marked with Sheridan hallmarks on bottom and design # 238-10-1055. Nice, solid, well-made quality piece that polished up beautifully.
Size: 4.5” tall x 4” diameter.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Along decorative gadroon stripe, the copper base is showing through as a rose gold tint on the raised areas- this is a very pleasant effect visually. One small, shallow ding on lower body- you’d have to look for it to notice it. Very light signs of use. Light signs of use to overall finish. Solid, quality-constructed piece.
