I LOVE this gorgeous studio made/handmade ceramic pitcher. Probably from the 70s or 80s with lovely earth tones and elaborate glaze patterns. There are many layers to the glaze with the golden brown clay body showing through on the handle and on certain spots near the top of the pot. Tan, brown burgundy (probably iron oxide) off white and green to name the colors.
I think my favorite spot is the brown circle with the vertical white slash running through. (See photos 3and 11). That circle has a modernist vibe that I love.
As a potter myself, I love running into these studio made pieces. This one was probably made by a professional based on the perfection of the handle, the elaborate yet relaxed glaze technique and the wonderful lip and shape of the poring spout. I tested it and it pours beautifully.
One of a kind piece. Name (written on the bottom with a needle tool) says “Brown”.
Dimensions: Height approx. 7.5 inches. Diameter of base is approx. 2.5 inches. Circumference at widest spot approx. 15.5 inches.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with the only “imperfections” being from the time of its making… the missing glaze spots. And some glaze dots on base and bottom. Overall a really lovely handmade piece.
