No guesswork as to dating here. Several are shown in my old Sears catalogs.
Genuine tooled leather handbag from the 1940s is deeply tooled and HEAVY (almost 15 ounces) leather. Amazing tooling too, (can you find the bird?). They meant business back then. It's not very big or wide. Handbag, not shoulder bag (but it could be if you are petite). Of course it shows wear. Especially shabby on the sides (shown), some loose stitching in one corner. (it's an OLD one!) Inside has the usual, some soiling, maybe pen marks? Turn/twist clasp closure is faded brass (it works fine), just like the grommets holding down the handle, which are so faded they almost look plastic. No maker markings or any numbers at all. See all pics for CONDITION. Offers oK.
9'' long
5 3/4'' wide
handle drop 7'' high
...and YES, I use a bangle bracelet to hold my purses open so that you can see the inside. I have many hacks and it would be fine with me if you wanted to steal this one (except it won't be stealing...)
