Hey there would-be Ritchie Cunningham. This beautiful sweater is in mint condition with no rips or holes and even though it is 100% not-itchy wool it has no moth damage. The condition after nearly 70 years is a testament to the quality of the garments construction and yarn used. There is a little chipping on the zipper and I am thinking about rolling up on a hobby shop to match that paint and restore it for you since the rest of it looks so mint. The tag says XL but people back then were smaller than we are…it’s probably all the meat we ingest. Anyhow the measurements are 42” chest, 33 1/2”, 39” waist, 40” hips. You can fudge it a little if bigger than that due to the stretch and the zipper. It won’t gap at the chest like it would with buttons if you have a 44” chest. Nowadays a 42-44 inch chest is a Large not an Xl (I’m telling you… it’s all the steroids with a dash of Darwin doing this to us) so measure yourself please with a soft tape. Let me guess, all you have is a metal Dewalt measuring tape? It’s better than nothing but it doesn’t brake around those curves very well. Ladies no reason you could not wear this yourselves. Guys I have great quality yet budget friendly button up shirts to go with this depending upon your size. I hate to ask but did anyone else’s Mom take them to The Broadway to shop for school clothes or am I line for the oldest posher award? Youngsters this thing is sooper hip and The Broadway was somewhere between Nordstrom and Gucci for quality.
