NPC145. Vintage VENETIAN Italy Wedding Cake Art Murano Glass Cobalt Blue Bead Necklace. Or, at least this is what we’ve seen them advertised as. *Please* do your homework here, we’d never seen these before & held onto them for years since we were at a loss. We’re now going with our top guess - Venetian wedding cake beads. We think we’ve got it right, do you? Graduated beads. Approx 21” end to end overall. There are 2 tiny beads being used as spacers between each blue bead. We’re pretty sure only 1 spacer is missing (we checked, but allow us a little leeway if we missed one!) Believe strung on a sturdy thin fabric string. Called a barrel closure? Seems to work as it should. Definitely looks vintage, not a repro. Solid construction. We did not attempt to clean in any way. Has been sitting in a bag for over a decade. The beads are quite hard, so they’re either glass or similar. Covered with either thick paint or maybe thick painted glass or enamel? Again, we’ve never seen this before. Some fading & loss, every bead is different. One bead has more “paint” on it than another. Not sure if gold/coppery areas are referred to as aventurina/aventurine? We don’t know what this is supposed to look like, so see close-ups for examples. You’ll always find imperfections & wear with vintage pieces. SEE PIX for general idea. 💯 As is.
