Vintage WIZARD Lufkin Rule Co Saginaw MI U.S.A. 8' #688 Tape Measure This is a Vintage Lufkin Wizard 8 ft. Tape Measure Model No. 688. It is made by Lufkin Rule Company. MARKINGS Front: The Lufkin Rule Co. Saginaw, Mich. 8 ft. No. 688 Made in U.S.A. Back: Wizard Pat. No. 1,964,280 Inside: Lufkin Vintage from the 1930s ? Has a nickel plated exterior, the number and increment marking are in great shape for a steel rule. Has surface scratches on front and back (see photos). Also, has some staining and fading on front and back rule surface area which gets much better after the 15" mark. At the 37"-38" mark, there is what appears to be a paint stain. The spring return is much weaker than todays' tape measures. Material - Steel Made in U.S.A. A very collectible tape measure!
