Vintage War Time Glass Shiny Brite Ornament noted Made in US of A on cap - Painted with Clear glass. Does not come with stand. (For photos only) some chipping under cap- see in photos. As the story goes, wartime shortages and restrictions prevented the use of silver nitrate, tinsel and metals caps for Christmas ornaments between 1942-1946. Therefore, glass ornaments were manufactured without the shiny look and hand painted on clear glass. Prized by collectors this ornament will add some vintage charm to your holiday decor. Shiny Brite ornaments were stamped with "Made in the U.S.A." on the metal cap after World War II. Before the war, the caps were stamped with "Made in the US. of A.". This ornament could have used a pre war inventory cap or the original owner could have swapped the cap from an older broken ornament over the war time paper caps used - it is impossible to tell.
