Made in Bavaria Germany and signed by the artist F. Otto Berger. Featuring delicately painted violets with a gold rimmed top. Comes with 9 vintage hat pins. Round rhinestone pin is missing one gem and there is some paint loss on the rim of the holder. Still displays beautifully! An absolute treasure, this piece is very special. The pictures don’t do it justice. About the Artist: Frederick Otto Berger was born on April 28, 1866, in Freital, near Dresden, Germany, in the coal mining region where his father was employed. "Otto" started his china painting career at the age of 17 at the Meissen factory near Dresden. He later taught the art of china painting at the same place where one of his students would be his younger brother Max. In 1905, Otto came to America, directly to Davenport, and he quickly found work at Hinrichs Crockery Company. By December 3, 1907, he had opened his own hand-painted china business out of his home and advertised it as "Davenport's First China Hand Painting" business.
