Beautiful mother of pearl/abalone with gem-quality turquoise, coral, and jet inlay in Soseeah’s signature Blooming Sunface style. Sunface is a key figure in Zuni culture, life, growth, and prosperity. The common version of Sunface seen here is split in half to represent the Sun’s perpetual balance as represented by sunrise and sunset. In Soseeah’s version, the feathers/sunrays are shaped like blooming flower petals. This ring has two different colors of mother of pearl, the gently radiating gold on the petals and the bright white of the face. Chanel inlay is said to be the most challenging form of jewelry-making, with tiny silver boxes crafted to hold intricately carved gems.
