Vintage c. 1850s Antique Victorian Civil War Era Solid Lignum Vitae Burl Wood TRAVELING INKWELL Inkpot Treen Ware Calligraphy *PRISTINE* Absolutely beautiful & perfect specimen of the time period & niche. Dates back to the mid 1850s, and made of Lignum Vitae burl wood. Inside is a glass vial for Ink, and it’s spring-loaded so there’s some wiggle-room & cushioning for the glass. It’s solid wood throughout, and the cap/lid has wiring/grooves for removing & replacing securely. While it’s immaculate throughout, and shows virtually no outward indications of use (except for what appears to be a trace of ink residue inside the lip of glass vial)…truly perfect. I’ve yet to encounter treen ware (or any other wooden antique items, for that matter) in such outright perfect aesthetic condition, especially given that it’s 170 years old. No markings/print. Measures roughly 2.25” long and 1.25” in diameter. Sold as pictured.
