Vintage gargoyles studio fine reproductions new york chalkware CONVEX mirror. This is heavy weighs 935 grams on my kitchen scale which equals a little over 2 pounds. There is a metal hanger embedded in the back of the chalkware mirror. It was thought that, like a huge eye, the convex mirror could observe all around it and repel ill-forces. As such, it was customary to place at least one of these next to a door or window in the home to prevent the entry of evil." This meaures; ~10" x ~ 7.5" tape measure in pictures above to show what was measured. Questions are always welcome . FLAWS: lots of tiny little chips , lots of paint scraped off on the back and all over the front , a little touch up paint should rememdy those flaws . See last 4 pics for a closeup of the flaws to expect on this vintage piece. On the bottom on the back there appears to be a large chip or a lot of white exposed it feels smooth to the touch so to me it appears to be a large area of paint missing.
