Vintage handmade Sweater from Ireland

I am posting this for my husband (he's getting on the bandwagon of Poshing, LOL!). He got this HANDMADE sweater when he went to Ireland nearly 30 years ago. He never wears it, EVER. Label reads XL, but sure seems larger than that. 26" from armpit to armpit, also across belly. It's 31" from back of neck to bottom hem. It just seems wider than a normal XL. The actual color is darker than the photo is. Dark blue, dark burgundy, hunter green, DARK. We're non smokers.
