The 1976 Army Specialist 4-Stripes Class “Army Greens” are a popular selection not only for veterans, but also for uniform collectors, military re-enactors, and movie and film studios seeking authentic uniforms for their production.
Coat is wool with polyester lining. The coat is a size 37R, which I believe is equivalent to a size small.
Measurements:
19" pit to pit
31" top to bottom
24" sleeve length
20" waist (measured from the bottom of the coat - one side to the other)
Includes:
Army Blue & White 3rd Infantry Division Patch (1918-present).
The three white stripes of the insignia are symbolical of the three major operations in which the division participated during World War I.
Two U.S. Army Specialist 3rd Class Rank Chevron Patches in Gold/Green (one on each sleeve):
The use of Chevron’s as a rank insignia in the military can be traced back to the late 18th century, when they were used by the French army. The design of the chevrons varied depending on the branch of the military and the specific rank.
Minor Blemishes:
In my opinion, anything that is (vintage and/or pre-owned) military related that shows signs of wear is not only to be expected, but makes the item more interesting than it already is. With that being said, I have included in the photos pictures of the very small holes I found in various area of the coat (sleeve, back, near one of the pockets).
