The original Lucien Piccard watchmaking company no longer exists, but back in the early 20th century, (1920s-1970s) it was considered one of the most prestigious of the watchmakers. Nowadays, they are all manufactured in Asia, by some mediocre company that bought them out in the 1990s. but back in the day, Lucien Piccard was crafting some stunning timepieces! This particular model is identfied as pre-1970s by one particular feature: it claims to be waterproof! It wasn't until the 1970s that the term "waterproof" was considered deceitful, being that ALL watches will break at a certain depth under water, depending on the watch. Even rolex doesn't actually have a waterPROOF watch .... All watches are water resistant up to a certain extent, and it was declared a standard to mark your watch as such as well as the depth in the 1970s. This is a 1960s men's Solid 14 karat gold "waterproof" Lucien Piccard wristwatch, Swiss manual wind movement, in excellent to like new condition... Equiped with a very handsome gold filled band, this is one heck of a classy timepiece. Enjoy.Questions? Leave a comment below!
