awedbirdseconds “Clothing has only been mass manufactured outside of the U.S. in recent decades, due to a combination of economic and policy factors. In the mid-to-late 80s, clothing was made in Korea, Hong Kong or the Philippines. A telltale sign mass manufactured clothing is not vintage (unless you include the 90s) is if it was made in China, India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Guatemala, Mexico, Sri Lanka.” From a huff post article / might be of interest!

ltlgreendress @eleanorjune There was a mass production exodus to China in the mid 80s. I know because I was among some of the earliest garment industry people to travel to mainland China in 1986 to visit brand new factories making our product, a partnership between private capitalism and the Chinese government. Judging by the style and fabric I think this is late 1980’s. That’s why I mentioned the China COO label. Besides, anything over 30 years old is vintage in my book.

awedbirdseconds @ltlgreendress yes I'm getting old since things from my childhood- the 90s are now considered vintage hahah! Such a shame though that the quality of goods really went down when they were exported to China. Sigh...

ltlgreendress @eleanorjune Even more sad, they closed thousands of American factories and probably millions of good jobs.
