I bought one just like yours. the inside was gutted to the wood I bought in Louis Vuitton brownish reddish vegan belts, four of them and I wrapped one around the base and used brass brads one around just under the lid and with brass brads and then two more going up the left front and over and up the right front and over with the buckle on the top lap top right?

You've done a great job. I know how the leather in between the lid and the base how it can dry out and how the fabric on the inside just shreds it came out so good. I bought two Samsonite mid-century tan vinyl and I'm getting 2 yd of vintage black and white Dior fabric. wish me well
