Virginia Johnson is a clothing designer and artist, and the founder of an eponymous collection of caftans, tunics and scarves. After studying Art History at Queen’s University, she moved to New York to study fashion design at Parsons. One of her first jobs was a design assistant at Helmut Lang, where she worked on his first shoe and bag collections with Prada. Shortly thereafter, she illustrated Kate Spade’s stationery line and etiquette books, before launching her own collection of printed caftans in 2001.
Virginia’s scarves, caftans, and tunics have been sold at stores around the world such as Barneys, Liberty's, Holt Renfrew, J.Crew and Anthropologie. Her designs are part of the permanent collections of the Textile Department at the Royal Ontario Museum.
Her illustration clients include Vogue, New York, and Deborah Needleman’s The Perfectly Imperfect Home.
I know that Virginia Johnson did some totes as collabs with Anthropologie and J Crew 15 years ago. This is possibly from the Anthropologie collab, I have had it that long but not sure where I picked it up. It is stained and I've tried my best to capture each one and point them out - I haven't used this bag in years so they may come out with stain treatment but as they are similar in hue to the print itself they are not that noticeable with the exception of two stains near top on white part.
The color on this tote would be more of a brown leaning taupe
