"Skipper" the cannon is fired by the Virgina Tech Corps of Cadets at every Virginia Tech home football game, both in pre-game festivities and after every Hokies score. The tradition dates back to 1963, when a group of cadets created the cannon for the rivalry game against Virginia Military Institute. President John F. Kennedy's was a Skipper in the Navy, and was also a title for the highest rank in the Corps of Cadets at the time. With the dedication of the cannon occurring after Kennedy's assassination, the name Skipper was chosen. We're paying our respects to the beloved tradition with this flowy, racerback women's tank.
