Vintage 1970’s Bronze Sculpture Of A Flock Of Ostriches Signed Artist EVANS Handmade
The flock of four ostriches is just charming. Each ostrich is majestic and has tons of bronze feathers. One of the ostrich is in forward motion....on the go. The flock appear to look totally inquisitive. They are anchored on a 9" x 5" matching sheet of bronze. The piece is presented on a wooden base carved in three levels 12' x 8" x 1". Signed by "EVANS" in the far right corner. Numbered #108.
This one of a kind bronze sculpture was purchased from the Coach House Gallery that was on Van Dyke Place in Indian Village, Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970’s.
The artist "Bill Evans" was often shown at the Coach House Gallery in the 1970's.
Nona Herzog owned the gallery and lived in the house on Van Dyke.
She was very active and involved with local artists as well as the Scarab Club downtown. The local artists were many….Johanna Haas, Karen Carter, Mary Lark, Chars Herzog III to name a few. Her gallery also had artists from around the world come and display their art such as Vagh, Miele, and many more.
This sculpture is 12″ x 7 1/2″ x 8″.
Stunning detail.
We have several of his one of a kind vintage pieces to offer from our vintage collection.
Please see the photos, the last photo is the advertisement for Bill Evan's show at The Coach House Gallery in the Detroit Free Press Fri, Feb 17, 1984.
