Tree pulp fibers are known as Rayon, Viscose, Modal and Lyocell. They can be made from many different types of trees but most common are Beechwood Trees, Bamboo, and Eucalyptus trees. This type of fiber is also called a Man Made Cellulosic fiber. It can be biodegradable, but it is a long chemical process to turn tree bark into soft supple material! Keep reading to learn how you can do better by this fiber!
Bronze: branded fibers from Tencel who only use trees from FSC certified forests, embed their fibers with tracers to track the journey and authenticate and who have perfected the manufacturing process ensuring that they are environmentally conscious with a 98% closed loop process.
Silver: Look for recycled fibers such as Tencel Refribra, it’s always better to use fibers that exist rather than virgin fibers no matter how sustainably grown they are.
Gold: Avoid these fibers altogether! Not easy but it sends a strong message! You can also support non-profits such as Canopy who work to preserve anti ent and endangered forests. Donate to reforestation efforts yourself at Pachama.com
