Wade Whimsies Canadian Nursery Rhyme COMPLETE Series - Red Rose Tea Promotions Vintage collectibles circa 1970 to 1979. Pre-owned and in excellent condition. There are 24 Whimsies in this set, plus an alternate: Wee Willie, Cat and Fiddle, Jack, Hickory Dickory Dock, Little Miss Muffet, The Three Bears, Little Boy Blue, Little Jack Horner, Jill, Ginger Bread Man, Old Woman who lived in a Shoe, Red Riding Hood, Pied Piper, Goosey-Gander, Tom the Piper's Son, The House that Jack Built, Puss in Boots, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Humpty Dumpty, Mother Goose, Old King Cole, Dr Foster, Queen of Hearts and Little Bo Peep. Wade potteries created 'Whimsies' which became popular and collectable following their retail launch in 1954, and that were available until early 1980's. Of all the many Wade Whimsies figurines that have been produced , probably the most famous, recognizable & still (to this day) very popular series ever made is the Canadian Red Rose Tea Nursery Rhyme Series or “Nurseries”. First introduced in 1971 the theme of this second promotion/series was based upon children’s nursery rhymes & fairy tales & became an instant success, it would run until 1979. All the figurines in this series were hand decorated & some very interesting variations can be found.
