This type of doll came out in the 1970’s and was among the first run of more affordable porcelain dolls. They made quite a few and these dolls kept popping up in doll collecting groups much later. Doll collectors gave her the name “Walda” for the way they kept finding her the way one finds Waldo in Where’s Waldo books.
The prairie dress and straw hat are meant to give her an antique look but occasionally she gets passed off as a real antique. Her sweet face was so appealing that it appeared in later dolls wearing more colorful dresses, clowns, and even Laurel and Hardy dolls!
This doll’s clothing, hat, cloth body, and porcelain hands, feet, head and chest are all in great shape. But time has caused her hair some damage. It’s fragile and easily breaks or falls out. Be gentle with her and you can enjoy wonderful 70’s and 80’s nostalgia. Display stand included.
Smoke free and cat friendly home. Offers welcome.
