The Taiwanese-born artist has been making a clean sweep at exhibits for years. She also has participated in many juried art shows and has won numerous top awards, including Best of Show, the top prize offered at the Mount Dora Arts Festival, for 1993, 1994 and 1995. She combines natural subjects such as flowers and trees with Asian symbols and strokes, she said. She also combines her watercolors with Chinese ink she grinds herself. No matter what she is creating, Asian flavors represent the strong roots of her heritage and culture, Chen said. "I can't forget my background.
