ladybrow Why did you only use 1.5 scoop was it too harsh and damaging on a strand test?

ladybrow @brennapow I’m confused about this lightener it’s doesn’t say how many levels it lifts usually they say up to 7 levels or 8 or 9 can you post a photo of what this one says I don’t see it

ladybrow @brennapow usually I use ion powder from Sally’s which says 7 levels but im looking for something less lifting ideally or at most the same lifting

brennapow @ladybrow its a surface painting bleach meant to mimic more of a sunkissed look. Google the product ;)

ladybrow @brennapow I looked it up and unfortunately usually better quality means stronger lift aka more damaging and for my purposes I’m looking for the worst quality with the least amount of lift to keep my hair as healthy as it is now (I don’t use bleach the normal way I just do a very diluted bleach bath with shampoo to lift from a level 2 to a level 7 then demi permanent 7a)

ladybrow @brennapow I’m not a professional but my hair is healthier than when I used to get my hair done in a salon that’s why I stopped going I realized the products they were using were too harsh and the senior stylist would charge me $350 per visit now I just go in for a haircut and do my own color

brennapow @ladybrow the strength of the product depends on the developer- not the bleach

brennapow @ladybrow information coming from a professional whos done hair for 15 years

ladybrow @brennapow I disagree it also depends on the bleach that’s very important because the concentration of persulfate salts in bleach is what reacts with the developer and lower quality bleach will have less amount of these salts if the bleach wasn’t important then why would salons spend so much money on a bleach $70-90 vs $21 at Sally’s you said it yourself earlier this salon bleach is a higher quality bleach than any at Sally’s

ladybrow @brennapow and I would argue it’s actually the developer that matters less because the percentage of peroxide is the same in 20 vol at Sally’s vs 20 Vol from a salon brand and 20 vol or less is really the only kind you should be using in combination with bleach anything higher is overkill and too harsh on the hair but I understand why some stylists might use it to speed up the process
