This Weller Clinton Ivory Jardiniere depicts swans floating in a pond amongst a forest of trees and foliage in a continuous 4 panel raised relief pattern. Buttery ivory in color with a caramel brown background all in a matte finish. Bring home a beautiful piece of art nouveau circa pre 1914 (reference, The Collector's Encyclopedia of Weller Pottery, Huxford).
Rudolph Lorber, who was born and studied in Austria, was in charge of designing Weller lines from 1905 to the 1930s, and was responsible for the Flemish, Forest, Ivory, Muskota, Roma, and the Knifewood line, which this piece is from, among many others.
Measures 5 1/2" high x 6-1/2" across opening at top ax 5" in diameter at bottom. No marking on underside.
Very good antique condition with expected age wear and uniform crazing. There are a handful of fleabite marks throughout which are not noticeable given the pattern. There are no chips or repairs and no chipping of the raised relief.
Please comment with any questions. The last 4 images represent the 4 different panels.
