This jacket has never been worn -
Easily one of the most iconic flight jackets ever worn, the Type A-2 flying jacket has become as legendary as the U.S. Army Air Force Pilots and aircrew who wore them during World War Two. The A-2’s origins go back many years before the war even began when it was introduced in 1931 as the replacement to the A-1 flight jacket previously worn by aviators during the 1920s. The A-2 was produced in large quantities through 1943 and would become prized possessions for pilots and aircrew who wore them even after the war was long over. The stories the jackets could tell were often expressed in the way pilots and crew customized their A-2s with unit patches, and more often with painted artwork, unique to the individual wearer, or reflecting the nose art of their aircraft.
