Yellow Glass Relish Dish Tiara Glass Sweet Pear Oval Dish by Indiana Glass

This pickle or relish dish was made by Indiana Glass for Tiara in the old Avocado/Sweet Pear pattern. It is considered one of the very first Depression glass patterns. The Sweet Pear pattern was originally released by Indiana Glass as the Avocado Pattern #601 in 1923. It was reissued by Indiana Glass in 1973- 1988 and the name was changed to Sweet Pear. The bottom and sides are embossed with a leaf pattern. A cluster of 2 smooth pears (or avocados) sits in the middle. A smooth, rounded handle is at each end, and the rim is scalloped. The color is a soft yellow that enhances the beauty of the pattern. Glass items are manufactured by being poured into a mold and pressed, or hand-blown, and they may have slight imperfections such as creases or lines from the molds, scuff marks, slight scratches, or tiny trapped air bubbles (known as “flea bites”).
