As some may know, this sweet girl is a racing homer pigeon I found stranded in my yard. She couldn't fly but had no visible injuries. I located her owner using a tracking band on her leg, but sadly the owner opted not to retrieve her saying he had too many birds😡. Unable to keep her because of my feisty cats, I couldn't rest until she had a home. Well my loving sister decided to welcome her in to her family. She has thrived there ever since! Here are some new updated pics to enjoy!🕊🌄❤💕

appletini1 OMG!im so sorry!i didn't know.i just went through this with my BFF and her dad right after her wedding.she said as long as she's kept busy in good company that each day is s little easier.i don't even tell people how many animals I have bc they would think I'm nuts ! My sister Sylvia is worse because she has a duck/bird sanctuary in her backyard 😂😂

iamme31at I didn't tell you that my father passed. I'm so sorry, I thought I had. It's been really tough. It was so painfully watching him suffer for months. He was in the hospital slowly deteriorating for 6 months.

vintage_reborn @iamme31at That is so nice of you and your sister, Carolyn, for saving this cutie. If she was cut by an animal and escaped, she might lost some main feathers in the wings and that is why she can't fly, if there are no other injuries. She might get them back after seasonal molting. But I am sure she is a lot of fun to have as a pet too as long as she is safe from dogs and cats. Thank you for saving her life.

iamme31at I love all creatures bugs included. We have this wonderful wild life rescue about an hour and a half drive from where I live, The Arc Foundation. They will take in any wildlife that is injured, babies abandoned after a mother is killed, etc. I have been going there with injured animals since my teens.

I've brought an aquatic fresh water turtle that was hit by a car, countless injured birds and baby birds, a baby racoon, a duck, and a possum that was hit by a car, and a baby bunny that was attacked by a cat. They even leave there vet open during the night when no one is there and you can leave an animal secured in a box with holes for air. The are free and only accept donations.

iamme31at @vintage_reborn I've driven there at 11pm with a baby bird the night before a trip to the shore. I wouldn't have been able to go in the morning so I just went. Didn't get home until almost 2am. I just can't turn a blind eye when someone is vulnerable and in need, people or animals.

karint They didn't want to take their bird back?! I just don't understand the attitude some people take toward animals. They aren't disposable, they are living, feeling, beings and it's especially disturbing that your bird was a working/service animal with a long history of helping people. I'm so happy he or she found you 😘

iamme31at @karint I know. I was both shocked and disturbed by the original owners response. Once I finally tracked him down and called I was so excited to tell him that I had found his sweet little bird. When he said 'Well I'm really busy this week, and I have a lot of birds so can you keep her or do you know anyone else who wants her' I was so disappointed. I expected him to be grateful and delighted having been worried sick about his lost friend. My heart broke.

iamme31at @karint he said if you can t find anyone else I guess I'll take her back of you can drop her off. At that point there was no way I was returning her. I started making calls to homing pigeon rescue organizations. Fortunately, my sister opted to take this little sweetie in. She's doing very well and had become very attached to my sister.

fashionchicaz Awwwwww. Poor little one 😞 people are so mean but on the bright side, she's got a great new home 🏠! Homing pigeons are brilliant. I recently had a Oriole hit my window. We tried to rehab it but I believe it had some injuries to it's neck. He was with us for 3 days and unfortunately passed. My poor 4 year old was so upset

fashionchicaz @iamme31at I love ❤ birds and am lucky to live in an area where we have pretty much everything. From Eagles to hummingbirds and all in between lol 😆. I love the woodpeckers. They're hysterical, especially the baby's 😂😂😂

I don't know about the Arc place, but we found a stray kitten & he's only 8 mos old- but he has a clipped ear so I guess he was a catch & release? & he's been neutered. He's living here now & really bonded w my (*cough*) bf (I'm actually moving & trying to escape him).

I can't stay, it's been 2 long yrs of supporting somebody w no job & I can't handle THAT anymore but I'm really worried about the cat- as my granny said, "If love falls on a cow flop, that's where it STAYS!" (Summary of my life! I don't want the kitten to have the same one!)

caityschmaity @iamme31at oh, & I tried PAWS, in Philly, but there's a wait list & you have to find a foster family first. Of course I'd be thrilled to take the kitty, but he only has eyes for bf! But I'm afraid bf won't keep him if he ends up going back to Denver- so where is the Arc? Just in case? Good to know anyway. And what an adorable little bird, btw- I grew up w a BUNCH of birds, they're so cute!

iamme31at @caityschmaity Unfortunately, the Arc Foundation only takes wildlife, so animals like raccoons, possums, geese, birds, turtles, and the like. I don't think they take in domesticated animals like dogs and cats sadly. However, if you need to find a home for the little guy or gal you can email or text me and we can brain storm to try to find a loving home.

caityschmaity @iamme31at it's just (forget how much backstory I told) I live w this guy & I want him to LEAVE but he found this kitty... who seems to have imprinted on him! He follows him around and has a fit when he's gone. My son & I just had our million yr old tabby put down, I was still sad about that- & the next day my "bf" comes in w this cute little kitty

caityschmaity @iamme31at my son loves him & I do too, but I'm trying not to get too attached bc bf is gonna use him as a bargaining chip, he's already threatened to let him back outside again (he hates my son- he's such a grown up!) & other baloney, but an actual veterinarian lives in this building & she said she'd absolutely take him & not to let bf toss him into the alley- & doubt he's THAT cold tho, he's always hugging that kitty & playing w him

caityschmaity @iamme31at & of course he hated OUR old cat &'now he's saying he's "never had his OWN pet before" (bc he's not really had his own PLACE before- I don't have the greatest luck, I'm ALWAYS trying to LOSE somebody!)- the bottom line is I think he'll take him to Denver IF he goes, and if he opts to be stubborn and wander the streets (he's has 6 mos warning & he's been living here for 2 YEARS doing nothing!) the vet will take him

s_mortenson Same here ! My pigeon came to my house , couldn’t fly, tracked down owner and he said “ she’s no use for me” so I kept her and she jumps in my hair and follws me around the house . I would post a picture but I dont know how on here .
