Hi! I'm Allison. I’m a 38 year old mother of a sweet boy. I have had to take a medical leave of absence from my job officially last week, due to the progression of my brain disease, Erythromelalgia. It is incurable and untreatable as they don’t understand it so they can’t do anything to help. It is rare, and it causes me to feel like I am on fire or sitting in the sun with a bad sunburn already. For no reason. It has gotten so bad my hands will be deformed and curl down from inflammation. I cannot get up most days and even laying still, I will feel like I’m stuck in an oven. I am stuck with ice packs on my body and staying still I started having health issues and red warm hands and arms especially when I am up and moving around about a year ago (the redness was there for about a year prior but it was not as bad and just kept getting worse. It progressed to a burning sensation that felt like I was literally on fire and it was worse the more I moved around.I demanded answers from the doctors who wanted to dismiss me. I finally got a referral to a specialist in march and I have been diagnosed with a rare, progressive brain disease called Erythromelalgia. exercise, high body temp, and stress cause this to flare up.
