gypsyeden Would you be able to do what I asked you about? I know I was just questioning how much it would cost that I'm not even sure if you're willing to do something like that. I went priority ship it to you and give you the tracking number so you wouldn't have to worry about the shirt getting lost. Also wanted to know if you knew how to install a zipper. I would love to have a shirt with a zipper on it. Like running up and down from top to bottom in the middle of the shirt

I would probably say $30 for a basic tee and $40 for the zipper tee since I haven't done that before and would need to make sure I had the right materials. I've done replacement zippers on clothing so I don't anticipate any difficulty just a little extra time :)

She has stuff from the 50s on up. I told her about this site and since she wanted to clear stuff out anyway, she is letting me sell it. I got a couple dozen pieces from her and can see that she has some really amazing stuff! From old stone washed jeans from the 80s to dresses from the 60s.

The most simple way to go about it is to look at an item and say "if I was in love with this how much would I pay?" I always price on the high side because people love to negotiate and make offers.

That really is the most popular place to find vintage clothing in my opinion. If you come across any tees or casual wear I may be able to help or you might find a website called defunkd helpful!

veronikafashion @wednesdayschild thank you for the reply! Etsy is a great idea. My mom still has a lot of mine and my sisters old clothes from when we were teens in the 80s and 90s. Besides the denim shirt, the most interesting thing she brought over are some high waisted stonewashed jeans. The rest was pretty boring stuff like khakis or plain tops. Not sure what I will do with them.

wednesdayschild @veronikafashion I wash anything that can be cleaned at home either in the washing machine or by hand and always hang dry. If something is dry clean only I would say only take the time to do that if there is a big stain or smell otherwise febreze is your best friend!

veronikafashion @wednesdayschild the stuff I wore as a teen can be machine washed. But my mom had suits and dresses from the 50s and 60s (think Jacqueline Onasis) that would have to be dry cleaned. Most of what she sent over is very clean, but has a musty smell. So fabreze is a great suggestion. I was already considering it, but didn't know if that was enough.

I haven't bothered to dry clean anything yet, but if I start selling some stuff, I will invest in dry cleaning the stuff that really needs it. wednesdayschild @babybabybecca I would leave it high and say make offers because you might get lucky with someone willing to pay. In technical terms what I've heard is that heat transfers aren't sought out because the date is stamped on the transfer rather than the shirt and since some deadstock transfers are floating around out there you don't have "proof" of what year the tee was actually made. I would still try to get triple digits for it!

I love defunkd the guys really know their stuff and they are really helpful if you post pictures and ask questions in the forum. Other than that the longer you've been selling you start to see things over and over (like that McCartney tee!) and you are just able to tell when something is really special!

wednesdayschild @eleanora1 yes! The easiest method is probably a saltwater bath, put 1/4 cup of salt in a plastic bin (like a storage container, Tupperware, etc.) and fill with water. I let the item soak for 3-5 days. High temp wash & dry always helps to break down cotton, just make sure you're ok with possible shrinkage! Sandpaper or a sweater stone is great to break down stiff collars and accelerate the wear on graphics.

wednesdayschild @eleanora1 Lately I have been using Meyers liquid fabric softener (I love the honeysuckle scent, find at Target!). The best and most obvious solution is to wash the item as much as possible, so throwing in your tees with every load will do the trick! ✌🏼️

chromethreads We have very similar tastes! True vintage is my life! I love how your photos provide so much esthetic pleasure! It’s art, history and marketing all in one! I can see a great deal of hard work put in to finding the perfect inspirational photos to place along with each piece. I also love the contrast of a beautiful brooch on a ladylike dress in the 60s vs the same brooch on a leather jacket today. Timeless!
