Hello~ I love creating art and studying nature like insects and flowers...but my favorite beings to observe are spiders ♡ some more of my favorite things are roses, antique books, winter, and the night sky. As for my personal style, I don't have a preferred brand but I love gothic, Victorian, and ethereal pieces. Velvet, lace, and flowy maxi dresses. Feel free to suggest your favorite shops on posh~! I'd love to see them!

Hi, Luna! You’re welcome to check out my closet. I have a few lacy dresses in a vintage style that you might like. I plan to post more once I can get good lighting.

Also, I really like your artwork! Is that your original work?
lunarrose
@dandelionsweet hello~ thank you so much for the recommendation! I will be sure to keep an eye out~ and yes ♥️ all artwork and photos posted are my own 🕷 although it’s been a few years now since I’ve created anything spectacular.. hopefully soon 🌿

@lunarrose That’s so fascinating! You’re an amazing artist. Your work presents a fine balance of passion and delicacy. What medium did you use for the drawings? I was especially struck by the woman with the tear made out of spider silk—I was thinking of a surprisingly similar idea for a pseudo-self portrait, so it was so striking to come across the concept developed and fully realized in your art!
dandelionsweet
That project is a ways out of my reach, though, since I’ve also been not doing as much artwork as I would like to these last few years. I’m trying to start back with simple sketches (doodles, really; it’s been so long) to get those artistic muscles working again. How are you getting back into practice?
dandelionsweet
And thank you for all the likes! That was a nice surprise. It seems that we have pretty similar styles!

@dandelionsweet thank you kindly for the appreciation~ it’s inspiring~! That particular piece is titled “solace“ and it’s from around 2013. I mainly work in pencil, specifically 0.3 lead. The colors for the top two were done with watercolors and the spider and butterfly pieces were scanned and colored digitally. So the original ones are just in black white and shades of grey .

@dandelionsweet That’s lovely, it’s so interesting to see how personal ideas are found in someone else’s work! I believe it’s how artists connect ~ I would say all of my art is a self portrait of my soul - they don’t really look like me but they are a part of me.
I hope your vision is someday realized by your own hands ~ ♡

@dandelionsweet As for returning to art.. personally for me it’s been difficult since I am in a period of mourning…but I have found it easier to work on an iPad as of late, I can pick it up and leave it without feeling neglectful. It doesn’t have the same feeling as working on paper, that’s much more therapeutic. I suppose a part of me isn’t ready to be healed. But if I was ready, I would say to make time even if you don’t feel inspired or don’t feel you are progressing, you most definitely are!
lunarrose
@dandelionsweet Sometimes I’ll get ideas for a piece and make a quick sketch on my phone and save it as a rough draft for when I’m ready to create. Or I will think something.. “poetic” I’ll write down for when the time comes. Because I know it will.
Please excuse the incredibly long comment ~ again, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to say what you did ~

@lunarrose Your pencil work is lovely! Thanks so much for sharing the details about your technique. I’m self-taught, so learning about what others do is always helpful. I was wondering about the coloration, since the butterfly one did seem to be digitally done, so that makes sense. It sounds fun to play around with digital colors, since you can change the feeling of the picture without altering the original pencil sketching!

@lunarrose Yes! “Self portrait of my soul” is exactly it! The projects I have in mind are to show a conception of myself that comes from feelings and beliefs that can’t be expressed visually except through art. It’s really nice to come to with another artist and see that those feelings are understood by others. You did it exquisitely, and I hope your journey leads you back to art when the time is right.

@lunarrose I’m very sorry to hear about your mourning. Healing is a long process that shouldn’t be forced. When you’re ready, your art will be there for you to heal along with you. Sketching on paper definitely is more therapeutic than working on an iPad; it seems that the little twitches and soft scratches on the paper resonate in a direct line to the heart, and there’s a realness in paper that can’t be mimicked digitally.

@lunarrose Realness can also be painful, though, even if it’s ultimately therapeutic—too much too soon—so sometimes it’s necessary to detach for a bit. It’s really admirable and heartening that you are still connecting with your art, and I sincerely hope it can be there for you when you’re ready to heal.

@lunarrose Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement and for your advice on how to get back into art! I’m touched that my appreciation can inspire you. I’m glad that you’re keeping your poetic thoughts for when the time comes to turn them into art, and I wish you all the best for the beautiful work that you will create from them in the future. You have a real gift and power for making delicate lines and intricate shadows speak!
