@bridgetwez sorry I somehow missed this! Yhe waist laying flat is approximately 15", but there is a lot of stretch that can happen with this dress. Easily could go up roughly 5". Also, the band part does sit up higher than the actual waist line. Approximately 3" down from where your bra strap would sit. Hope this helps

@bridgetwez Actually in looking at the photos I forgot to mention that with the straps being adjustable that waist line position could vary based on where you position the straps. I am 5'9", smaller chested so what I just wrote is where is sits on me. I hope I didn't just confuse you further! Let me know if you have any questions!
