rare antique Indian swirl marble 1880s to 1920s

This is a unique, rare antique Indian swirl marble. Indian swirl marbles were early German handmade marbles made of soft black opaque glass with surface bands of multiple colors mostly earth and sky tones, such as yellow, orange, green and blue. It is almost 3/4”, which is a very typical size for these antique marbles which were mostly made in 7/8” to just under 1”, although there were some minor variations. These early marbles were opaque and never cased with clear glass. Most were made from the 1880s to 1920s (some were pre 1880). Because they were made with lightweight and very brittle black opaque glass they chip and crack easily. This one is still beautiful but does have chips, and worn areas, but I do not see any cracks. It will make a great addition to your collection, it’s very difficult to find marbles that are still intact unless they are already in someone’s collection.
