Yes ma'am I have the back cut from around the sides like that because I thought I could actually get my foot into them and the heell would not hang as much without putting too much pressure on the heel of these genuine snakeskin shoes but my foot still hung and I did not want to damage the snakeskin heel itself, yes these are a 42 in European sizing, it's a 11.5, 12 medium
