These rare Speedys have differences from the international versions and modern LV bags: - Leather used on French Co. bags is a treated leather in a caramel color that does not darken or patina, not the oxidizing leather that Louis Vuitton uses today. - French Co. Speedys are lined with brown canvas, not the suede used on International Speedys. Vintage Speedy bags did not have an interor pocket. - International Speedys have a leather zipper tab with a hole and seperate lock & key; French Co. Speedys have a Talon zipper pull & Tucky lock system. - International Speedys are made of one continuous piece of canvas, so the monograms on one side are upside down. French Co. Speedys have all monograms face-up - making them the only Speedy with a seam on the bottom and one of the rare exceptions to the "no monograms cut off" rule. The strip is made of the same leather as the handles. - French Co. Speedys pre-date LV production codes; the interior tag is tyvek/paper and reads "Louis Vuitton, Manufactured in the USA Under Special License to the French Co." A letter "R" is embossed on the underside of the leather pull tab.
