Between caring for my girls, trying to grow my new business & keep up w/growing my original closet & now this coming week I'm speaking at a local college. I'm 1 of 5 women panelists who was asked to speak at the "women in business" conference (theme being success: what it means to me & how I'm building my own success).

persuasions AND on Tuesday morning I have a meeting w/the director of public health & possibly the mayor of the city I live in to discuss the terrible heroin epidemic that's getting worse. I was a substance abuse counselor before I semi-retired to be a stay at home mom & run my online business selling clothing.

persuasions They think I may be just what the high school & Jr high school students need. They think I might be able to reach them, help them & so on. Sadly we had 4 people overdose & die in a 6 day period a few weeks ago in our city & one was a beautiful YOUNG GIRL, age 16 in 10th grade. Her passing finally got the mayor & city officials to WAKE UP. It's so sad it took a child's passing to wake them up.

persuasions This has been a major epidemic for the last twenty plus years. I reckon they were sleeping under a rock cuz the mayor point blank said that he never thought when he was elected that he'd have to deal with a problem such as this. I did not know the young girl who passed but I will say this, no I PROMISE this, I will not let her death be for nothing.

persuasions I want to make sure these kids understand exactly what they're getting involved in & they truly have no clue! They have no idea as to the depths this drug will take them or the path of pain & destruction it'll cause them & their families & friends. Then IF they're lucky enough to defy the odds & get sober, they'll still pay the rest of their lives for it.

persuasions There's the criminal record 99% of addicts accumulate and of course the negative stigma even for those years into recovery who are treated poorly because of it. Uhg. Makes me so mad. I want to do something. I have to come out of my semi-retirement from addiction counseling because I can feel it in my bones. I have to help. So I'm nervous about my meeting Tuesday. I'm praying I'll find a way to help the kids here.

I had a very successful meeting Tuesday with the head of the public health department ~ sounds like it could possibly turn into a job opportunity ~ although I'm not sure if that's what I was looking for (although with both my closets being completely dead, I'm nervous and may consider if offered a job) but regardless I just want to help, paid or not doesn't matter to me!
