vichp55 100% the gold skulls necklace is a fake and common size be for years. Look on eB*y, starting with lowest priced items. You’ll see them sold directly from Chinese agents, not private sellers. They usually work for the factories, wholesalers or both. It’s illegal, of course. Take screen shots of several different sellers and their locations. Explain that authentic Betsey J is not sold this way.

vichp55 White skull necklace is authentic. Notice the difference in the tags, too. The white skull’s has sticker residue which means it once had a product sticker. Fake tags aren’t cut the same and don’t come with product stickers.

vichp55 I’m waffling on the earrings. They look authentic but there is a fake version that’s been around awhile. I’ll compare it to fakes being sold. Also, the I’m too sick to go today. os unfamiliar to me. Can you show the back of it?

vichp55 See seller @shelbmake. She has the earrings for sale and sells authentic Betsey. You’ll find one of the matching necklaces in her Sold section. The pieces are from the Betsey’s Pet Shop collection. Not sure what year it came out.

shelbmake @vichp55 Hey! Saw that I'm tagged in the post, the earrings look real, but would need to check the back of mine or somebody else's to make sure they are real. That first necklace is not authentic BJ jewelry. It actually looks like a piece of BJ jewelry of the Pet Shop that was broken off and formed into a necklace. I've never seen that one and of course does not have her signature on the clasp end of it. The multi skull necklace I don't believe is real as well like you said

vichp55 Looking at the necklace again, there no BJ gold heart tag and haven’t found any necklace like it. It’s possible the pendant is real. No way to know other than comparing photos. I don’t see any necklace like it other than the real ones with other charms and stations on them. This could be from from one of them.

vichp55 My point is that if the earrings are real, you have a good find. If the white skull charm is real, you have a collectible piece. The black rope is of no value. At a minimum you were misled about both necklaces.

vichp55 @shelbmake Hi Venessa. What do you think? Trying to help out this very nice gal. 🙂

vichp55 @shelbmake I agree. Angie is having trouble returning this purchase and asked for my help. Thanks for validating my opinion. 👍🏻

shelbmake @vichp55 I would say if all the items were bought from the same person and especially the gold necklace is not BJ, I would return all pieces and buy authentic BJ jewelry. The skull pendant like I said, looks like it could've came off a real BJ piece and then put on black rope and claimed as authentic. It doesn't have her signature on the clasp. I'm also trying to find pictures of the back of those earrings since I'm currently not home. This is sad that some people do this to other people

shelbmake @vichp55 Did she purchase from PM or Bay?

vichp55 @shelbmake M*rc. They’re being really difficult about returns right now.
Dec 23Reply

shelbmake Also, another thing. If you compare actual pictures of this line with that pendant, you recognize the hearts on the back of it, you would think they would have it on the earrings because they have the same heart design on the back of the necklace and bracelet of the same skulls in the Pet Shop Line. Thats why I'm thinking they're not real as well

shelbmake @vichp55 She needs to get her money back! I would keep pushing for it
Dec 23Reply
vichp55
vichp55 @shelbmake Possibly, though I’ve seen the backs of her earrings look plain depending on size. Oddly enough, I’m not finding the copy of this design online. It’ll show up when I’m not looking for it. Ha!
Dec 23Reply
shelbmake
shelbmake @vichp55 I agree on that! Sometimes plain and sometimes with designs on the back

vichp55
vichp55 @shelbmake Agree! I just fought with them over a $17 necklace for 3 weeks. And won. They want her to get experts to prove they’re fakes. Good grief.
Dec 23Reply
shelbmake
shelbmake @vichp55 lol where does someone even find experts? Thats ridiculous. I've had problems with people scamming me on here lately. Buying things, claiming theres damage when there's no damage, opening a case and winning and having items returned to me damaged and destroyed. PM would only credit me 50$ to 190$ in earnings. Then the buyer no deletes their account 🤷🏼‍♀️

ah160027 @shelbmake @vichp55 I loved reading you guys' back and forth, haha y'all are like jewelry detectives! God from scouring the internet, it seems like you guys and other serious Betsey Johnson fanatics would be the experts, so I don't know what the hell kind of "qualifications" M*rc is looking for in a authenticater.

shelbmake @ah160027 I would look that exact question on what Merc is looking for in authenticator. Side note, I was looking at that skull pendant on that black rope necklace and I am 98% positive that the charm is real but came from one of the Pet Shop statement necklaces (I sold the exact one) and tied on rope. It has the same rings on the back of the necklace as the skull for where the chain of the necklace would be

ah160027 @shelbmake @vichp55 I found a shop zappos YouTube video that shows the backs of the skull earrings, and there's nothing identifying on them, just plain :( and yeah if the skull pendant is legitimate, it came from the Pet Shop Skull Girl Cluster Necklace. The backs are the same, with welded loops. This seller used hot glue to attach the black cord

shelbmake @ah160027 I think the earrings are real. They look exactly like the ones I currently have listed. They're made of ceramic from what I read so if they have a glassy feel to them then they are the real deal
Dec 23Reply
ah160027
ah160027 @shelbmake Yep that's the necklace I was seeing everywhere, and the earrings do look virtually identical to yours. I want them to be real so I don't have to bother with the issue with M*erc anymore, it's just kind of suspicious that I messaged the seller about it, and she didn't respond. But I guess she can't admit that some pieces are real without acknowledging that she's knowlingly selling counterfeit ones.

vichp55
vichp55 @ah160027 Be persistent &. relentless with Merc, even if you lose the case. Find another way to restart it. You were misled, plain & simple. The missing heart tag & glue on the necklace alone is enough. Question is, do you want to let go of the earrings & necklace charm? You’ll have to send the entire order back. If they closed the case, keep reopening it. It’s a real pain but you have to persist. Screen shot they’re own return rules and add the photo. There being unreasonably harsh.

vichp55 @ah160027 I’m not a fanatic, just too much time on my hands. Ha! And I love to sleuth & help people. I have a photo file of her collections on my laptop & started developing a Pinterest board for her jewelry. It helps me keep track. 👍🏻

ah160027
ah160027 @vichp55 Yes! Thank you! I was thinking the tags and hot glue should be enough too, but I also screenshotted some of our conversation to serve as "third party proof" haha. They said it could come from any online third party stating its inauthentic, and I showed them pics of the original necklace where the pendant came from. I'm willing to let everything go for the principle of it, and because I really wanted a complete and authentic set.

ah160027
ah160027 @vichp55 I respect your dedication to Betsey Johnson's work, especially because it comes from having too much time haha. Do you have a list of all the jewelry collections she's ever made?
Dec 29Reply
vichp55
vichp55 @ah160027 Stick with the case. I’ve developed a pretty good record of her collections but don’t know if I’ve found 100% of them. But I’ve found a lot. I’d really love to find more of her earliest jewelry that was handmade in a small studio in New York by hand selected women.
Dec 29Reply
ah160027
ah160027 @vichp55 Haha your encouragement is genuinely giving me the strength to fight it! This is the second time they've closed my case after raising the bar higher for proof. They said public threads don't count as third party verification. Are you ok with PMing on M3rc? I'm ah1600 on there.

ah160027
ah160027 @vichp55 And yeah you should create your own site! There's nothing cohesive out there about Betsey Johnson's jewelry that I could find. I didn't even know she had her own boutiques or a few women handmade her early jewelry until I saw it on Reddit, I think. You should try there!

vichp55 @ah160027 I’m VicJoy. I shop there way more than I sell so you won’t see nearly as many of listings. I do need to fix that. I hadn’t thought about doing a website. My health keeps me from doing too much. But I’ll think about it. 🙂
