te1904 it's the term used to measure from underarm seam to underarm seam where the bodice joins the underside of the sleeve. Sometimes also abbreviated as P2P. Dana Buchman sometimes varies in pit-to-pit measurement and in my experience their jackets measure anywhere from 18" to 21". So, I always ask!
